My summer 2015

This summer was by far the best summer ever!

This summer, I went to daycare, as I do every summer. But this summer daycare took us on more extreme trips and visitors who came here showed us more interesting things.

The weeks in daycare usually goes like this:

Monday – you get to bring a toy to daycare and this day has a subject for example, sports fan day.

Tuesday – we go on a medium ranked trip.

Wednesday – we go on a small trip.

Thursday – we go on a big trip.

Friday – we get to bring our electronics to daycare and a visitor comes to the daycare to show us things.

Some of my favorite trips were Ripley’s Aquarium, the African Lion safari, Centre Island, and Childs play indoor playground. Some of my favorite shows or demonstrations from visitors are crazy Dave’s Scientrific show, the planetarium, and crazy Dave’s magic show.

The only bad thing was that the gross Olympics were cancelled. But this was still the best summer I ever had!

I recently finished reading a classic book name “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll.

The book is also called “Alice in Wonderland”. When Lewis first read it to her daughter (Alice), it was called “Alice’s adventure underground”. The book is about a girl name Alice. She follows a human behaving white rabbit by curiosity down a hole. In that hole, she has a series of adventures, problems and strange things happening. But at the end, she realizes it was all a dream. Her sister has the dream too and they both pass the story on to the next generation of the family.

This book is very mysterious, humorous and just makes you want to read more. From the strange hall, to the grinning Cheshire cat, to the mad tea party to the temper of the queen of hearts, this book will fit about everybody. But since this book was created in the 1800’s it may be hard to understand.

This is one of the first classic books in read. It taught me that just because it is classic, it doesn’t mean it is not boring!

In the summer, people usually go to an outdoor swimming pool. But some people prefer to go to an indoor swimming pool. This article is about my opinions of why people prefer indoor swimming pools more than the outdoor one.

Some people do not like the cold or are sensitive to the cold. The outside swimming pool is very cold so those people would rather go to an inside swimming pool where is usually much warmer.

Since most outdoor swimming pools are public, they are dirty. You do not need to pay for public swimming pools, so their service is poor. Most indoor swimming pools you have to pay for to get in or have membership to get in. Payed swimming pools are usually cleaner and the service is better.

Some people (like me) are scared of bugs. In an outside swimming pool, since it is outside, there should be bugs everywhere! So when you get out of the pool to rest, you have to worry of a bug bite or bugs crawling on you. Indoor swimming pools are inside so there should not be as many bugs.

These are just my opinions why some people like indoor swimming pools more than outside swimming pools. Do you think this is why people like indoor swimming pools more than outdoor swimming pools?

My Grade 5 RCM Piano Exam.

Last week, I had my grade 5 Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) piano exam. I was so nervous!

Even though it was my 3rd piano exam, I was more nervous than my 2nd exam. This exam was not perfect but it was pretty good. My examiner was very intimidating in the exam, which made me more nervous. I think what made me the most nervous was that I wasn't practicing enough. At home, I was only practicing at about 4 times a week.

When I arrived at the RCM, I signed myself in, then I waited around 15 min until it was my turn to take an exam. I thought about how I was going to do my test. When it was my turn, I was shaking from fright. But I kept telling myself I can do it in my mind. In the exam, I had to do technical tests, play a few songs, and do ear tests. After the test, I was so relieved.

I had time to think. I thought about how I am going to do my Grade 6 RCM exam better. I decided that this year, I am going to practice more. And next time during the test, I am going to try to calm myself down.

If you have a test or exam, there are two things you need to remember: be calm, and practice, practice, and practice!

British teenager discovers planet as large as Jupiter

An unbelievable discovery in 2013 was made by a 15-year-old teenager. He found a planet as big as Jupiter!

Tom Wagg launched his project, WASP (Wide Angle Search for Planets) in 2006. In 2013, he located WASP 1000 light years from earth. Wagg noticed light patterns coming from a star. It was caused by this planet, temporarily named WASP-142b. This year, it was confirmed as planet. There will be a competition held for the new name of WASP-124b. Wagg was very proud and happy.

If I found a planet, I would have been very excited because I just contributed to the history of space.

Tom Wagg is lucky to find a planet. He has a lot of potential for being an astronomer!
