Diseases
When you hear the word “diseases” what do you think of? You probably think diseases are a bad thing, right? But there is more to diseases just being plain “bad”. I will help clarify your thoughts about diseases.

First off, what is a disease? A disease can be defined and/or explained in many different ways. But I think the best definition is: a disease is a medical condition that inflicts pain, dysfunctions and death. It shows signs and symptoms, and is usually caused by some means. Diseases can be classified by symptoms, causes, or the way it was caused. There are four main types of diseases: infectious diseases, deficiency diseases, genetic diseases and physiological diseases.

Infectious diseases are diseases that can spread from one thing to another. They can spread from hand-to-hand, mouth-to-mouth, and even from animals to human. Deficiency diseases are caused by lack of or too much nutrients. An example of this disease is type 2 diabetes, a disease that lowers your insulin, causing high blood sugar levels. Genetic diseases are diseases that come from mutations in your DNA. There usually come from your genes passed on from your parents. And last but not least, physiological diseases are caused by an organ or an area in your body malfunctioning. An example of a physiological disease is a heart-attack. A disease that is caused by blocked arteries in your hart, causing your heart to fail it’s job.

There are lots of diseases, but there are also lots of ways to avoid diseases. One main way is to keep your body healthy and strong. You can do this by getting enough (but not too much) nutrients, exercising, drinking water, and sleeping. Also make sure to avoid eating too much greasy foods, smoking, drinking, and going on drugs. They can cause more diseases. You can also maintain health by having good relationships and being more confident about yourself. This may or may not completely avoid diseases, but it makes you feel great about yourself, therefore making you feel great physically too.

Seeing this has taught me and maybe you too that diseases may be a bad thing, but there is a lot more to it then you think. Yet, we still haven’t uncovered all the mysteries about diseases. Maybe on day you will find those answers we are all been looking for.

My School Experience in Sir. SBSJPS

I have just graduated from my 2nd school Sir. SBSJPS. It was a delightful experience. I want to tell you all about it.

I came to SBSJPS only in January 2016. Even though I have only been here for half of the year, I had a very fun time. As well as being well educated, I made new friends and went on field trips. A highlight is Kearney (a 4-day trip). Before I came to this school, I felt nervous coming to a new place. But then I realized. It was not so bad after all.

When I began school, the thing about me that stood and most was my talent. I was soon a “smart” kind of person to others. I was a respected student and I was able to make new friends easily. My homeroom teacher was even impressed by my academic skills. Because of this, my time at the SBSJPS was quite enjoyable.

That was my time at the SBSJPS. I have graduated and now I plan to go to Sir. EMSPS. I hope I have a great time there!
My Gr.6 Piano Examination

Recently, I have taken my 3rd piano examination. It was interestingly fun! I want to share with you about my experience about my most enjoyed and highest graded RCM piano exam.

Before the exam, I did not feel as nervous as I usually would be. I felt strangely calm and felt like there was nothing to worry about. I thought maybe it was my other two exams before this one or maybe it was because of my parents support. Buy in the end, it was not fear but it was excitement and joy I was feeling. Knowing this made me have much more confidence than I would usually have.

The exam itself was quite shocking or even fun as I was playing for the examiner. But for most of the exam, I did not feel much. I felt mesmerized or dazed in the exam and I am not sure why. They actual piano playing on the other hand, went positively well. The piano was not the best in quality, but because of my earlier experiences, I got used to it quickly. I played 5 songs, technical movements, sight-reading and did a few ear tests. Overall, I am confident I did well.

A week later, I have been informed that I have achieved a mark of 88 (first-class honors). All of my hard work has paid off in the exam. But knowing that I have theory exam next month, I better go work. I hope you enjoyed listening to my experience in my grad 6 RCM piano examination.

My Gr.6 EQAO Tests

Last week, I had my EQAO tests. I was feeling many things at that time. I want to talk all about my great experience.

Before the EQAO tests, I felt very nervous and shaky. It was the test that depended on my future anyways. It took a lot of my time to calm myself down but when I did, I was very confidant. On the first day of EQAO, I was confidant, but tired. Thankfully, our teacher provided sugary snacks to keep us awake. My teacher’s support made me feel even more confident.

In the second day of EQAO, I got a little nervous, but still confident. My friends calmed me down just when EQAO was starting. But I was still feeling more nervous than the day before. Therefore I did not know if I did as good as the day before.

On the third and final day, I had more confidence than ever! I was very glad that that day was the last day of EQAO. I almost did not finish the test, but I was confident I did better than before!

I did not learn new skills (because I had EQAO in Grade 3), but I leaned I need to learn how to control my nervousness. The entire test was nerve-wracking and I also break down in other things too. So I need to learn this skill.
This was my story on how I did on my Gr.6 EQAO test. I hope I got a good work!

The North York Festival.

I have been playing the piano for quite a long time.  This festival was my perfect time to shine! Not very long ago, I went to one area of the North York Region Festival to perform. I want to tell you all about my experience at this festival.

The North York Festival isn’t really a festival. It is more of a competition. While I was in the festival, I was very nervous. There were people all across the city around me. In the festival, I was place in two groups because I was playing two pieces from two different groups. When I was playing my first piece, I tried to stay calm. I felt a lot better after my first piece, so I had more confidence in my second piece.

I did great for my first time! I got second place two times each for one group! My teacher even thought I should have got placed first for my second song. The entire festival was a great performing experience for my piano exam that is coming up soon. All of this fun has now made me a more experienced and skilled piano player.

Overall, the experience was fun, and the festival was extraordinary. It was one of my best moments in my piano life!

Recently, I went to a program at school. The program was about how to and why to make healthy snacks. It was very fun and very delicious! I want to tell you about this amazing experience I had in the program.

First of all, I think their program was a great idea. I agree that healthy snacks are one of the best snacks! And me and the people in the program learned very important cooking skills, for eg. handling a knife. It also taught me to stay patient while cooking. Or else you may cause problems. We were all learning but in a fun way.

When we came in, our instructor explained to us how we children are growing up and should learn how to cook (starting off with healthy snacks). So then we were split into groups and tried our self to make food. It was great! I never knew something so healthy can be so tasty. And that ended my day on a good note.

I had a great time cooking. Do you like cooking?

The city is divided into two main parts, the suburbs and the downtown. Some people like to live in one while others like to live in the other. These are my opinions why you should or should not live in the suburbs or downtown.

The suburbs and downtown is very different in many ways. Downtown has more publicity and shops while suburbs are more peaceful and quiet but with not many shops or markets. So it depends on your personality on where to live. If you like the big crowds and like to shop, downtown is for you. if you like to relax like you just just do not care, the suburbs are for you.

In my opioion, I like both the suburbs and downtown. I like them because I like the peace and quite but I also like publicity. But I do not like them because the subrubs have less markets or stores than downtown, but downtown has too much pollution.

I do like both parts of the city but I  cannot live in two places at once. So now, I am living in the suburbs. What is your preference? Do you like the suburbs, downtown, or both?

Squirrels.

In the city, there are a lot of common animals. But squirrels are one of the most common and are pretty interesting. This is my point of view of squirrels.

A squirrel’s appearance is very casual. They have four legs, a long bushy tail, a mouse-like face and an oval shaped torso. The males have black fur while the females have grey fur. Squirrels are mammals. They also do a lot of things to survive.

Squirrels have a very interesting behaver. They somethings chase other squirrels but when we humans come near them, they run away. Squirrels live in nest-like homes in trees. In order for squirrels to live, in fall they bury food underground and store them in their home so that in the winter they can rely on those stored food at scarce times.

In order for squirrels to live, they have to mate quickly. They do this because if they do not, their species won’t reproduce. This is why squirrels are so common. A squirrel’s diet mainly consists of nuts and seeds. But since here are not many nuts or plants that contain edible seeds growing in the city, they depend on us to feed them. Squirrels are the main producers and eater of nuts.

There are still unsolved questions I have about squirrels though. Like “how do they communicate with each other?” or “do they live groups?” but that does not stop me from investigating further into the life of the squirrels.

My experience of making first PowerPoint presentation.

When I came to this new school, I started to do PowerPoint presentations. Not long ago, I had my first one. I want to talk about my experience when I made and presented my first ever PowerPoint presentation.

My first PowerPoint presentation was about the advantages and disadvantages of being a Canadian Citizen. I got my information then started developing my PowerPoint. Mind you, it is not easy. Being my first ever PowerPoint presentation, I had difficulty making it attractive, making it organized, etc. but then, I realized a PowerPoint presentation is like a segmented poster. Since I am a great poster maker, I had no more trouble with PowerPoint presentations anymore.

Because I am new to the class, I felt shy before I presented. But when I was presenting, it was not half-bad. I figured out to do a good presentation; you have to speak loud, clear, and correctly. It is also better if you do not fiddle with your cloth, touch your face too much, etc. this will make you a good, confident, and proud speaker.

Overall, I did very well for my first PowerPoint presentation. I hope my next one is just as good.

A few weeks ago we had a science/art poster project. I got full marks! That is why I want to teach you how to make a good poster.

To get information, you can look on the Internet, read books, use what you already know, etc. when gathered, put the information on paper. make the writing not too big but not too small. Double check if the information is right, then put it on bright poster paper. bright poster boads stands out more than normal colours.

When you make a poster, do not make too much information but more pictures. This makes your poster more attractive. When putting on information, you can organize it in an artistic way.  If you make a title for your poster, you should make it big and bright. It will defenitly catch a lot of attention.

Last of all put effort and passion into your poster. These elements always makes a difference in your poster. A poster without effort is messy, nasty, inaccurate, etc. a poster without passion has no blast to it, has no difference from others, is the same old boring poster you see everyday, etc. if you want  to avoid those, put effort and passion to your posters.

All of the above changed my poster drastically. I am sure it will change yours. But if you do  not get a good poster, remember, you have done the best you can, and I bet your proud!

The Road to Revolutions.
--Toronto Star
When 20-year-old Michael Skupien thought of an idea with his buddy, 20-year-old Alex Rodrigues, it become so popular that Canada is going to use if. That idea was self-driving cars!
Over the summer, Skupien and Rodigues decided to build a self-driving golf cart. They are planning to make more and give them to senior homes and resorts. This idea struck the conference Board of Canada. They estimated that if they used these cars, 65 billion dollars will be saved from car accidents, it will prevent 80% of car accident deaths, reduce fuel consumptions, and make traffic more efficient.
But there are some problems to the idea “such as whom do you give a driving ticket to”, and the city is going to have make lots of changes to the road’s and traffic signs and rules.
But other, then that, I personally think it is a great idea! It is safer and it saves money! It is revolutionary!
