British teenager discovers planet as large as Jupiter
------Toronto Star
An unbelievable discovery in 2013 was made by a
15-year-old teenager. He found a planet as big as Jupiter!
Tom Wagg launched his project, WASP (Wide Angle
Search for Planets) in 2006. In 2013, he located WASP 1000 light years from
earth. Wagg noticed light patterns coming from a star. It was caused by this
planet, temporarily named WASP-142b. This year, it was confirmed as planet.
There will be a competition held for the new name of WASP-124b. Wagg was very
proud and happy.
If I found a planet, I would have been very excited
because I just contributed to the history of space.
Tom Wagg is lucky to find a planet. He has a lot of
potential for being an astronomer!
